We are the controller for the data described in this policy: we decide why and how it is processed. We have not appointed a data protection officer. For any question, use the contact details above.
2. When this policy applies
This policy applies to our website, to orders placed by telephone, and to catering requests you submit to us. It does not apply to third-party websites you reach through a link, such as our Instagram page.
3. What data we process, and what for
When you order by telephone
Ordering with us is done by telephone. We note your name, your telephone number, what you order and when you will collect it. We use that data only to prepare your order and to reach you if something goes wrong.
When you fill in the catering form
The form asks eight things: your name, your email address, your telephone number, the type of event, the date, the number of guests, your dietary requirements and your message.
It is worth knowing how that form works technically, because it is unusual and it is in your favour. There is no server and no database behind it. When you click send, your own email program opens with a ready-made email to info@tajine2go.be containing those eight fields. You send that email yourself. So no form service, no external platform and no other company sits in between: your request travels from your email program, through your own email provider, straight to our inbox. We keep your request as an email in that inbox.
We use that data to answer your request, discuss your event and send you a quotation. You are not obliged to use the form: you may simply call or email us. If you do use it, we need at least your name and your email address to be able to reply.
When you email or call us directly
Then we process what you write or tell us yourself, in order to answer your question.
When you visit our website
Our website is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like every web server, that server processes technical data in order to show you the page, including your IP address and information about your browser. Under our plan those technical logs are kept briefly — a matter of hours to a few days, not months. We do not use that data to recognise, track or profile you, and in practice we do not consult it.
4. Special category data: the “dietary requirements” field
We never ask about your religion or your health. But the “dietary requirements” field is a free text field, and what you write there can reveal such information: “halal” may say something about your religious beliefs, “nut allergy” or “gluten intolerance” says something about your health. The law calls this special categories of personal data and protects it more strictly.
We process that information solely in order to put your catering together safely and correctly. We use it for nothing else, we share it with no one, and we keep it no longer than the rest of your request.
Please enter in this field only what we really need to know in order to cook. If you have a serious allergy, call us on 09 310 93 31 rather than typing it: email is not a secure channel, and on the telephone we can ask follow-up questions straight away.
5. The Google map
Our contact section shows a map that comes from Google. That map loads as soon as you open the page — you do not have to click it. As a result your browser sends data to Google even if you do nothing further: at least your IP address, information about your browser, and the page you came from.
We are ourselves responsible for the fact that this data is collected and sent to Google. What Google does with it afterwards is outside our control; for that we refer you to Google's privacy policy.
6. How long we keep your data
- A catering request stays as an email in our mailbox until two years after the event. If no assignment comes of it, we delete the request one year after it has been dealt with.
- Notes of telephone orders are kept no longer than is needed to handle the order.
- For invoices and bookkeeping, the statutory retention periods apply.
- The web server's technical logs: see section 3, last paragraph.
7. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising. Outside our own business only two parties are involved:
- Google, because the map in our contact section is loaded from Google (see section 5);
- Vercel Inc., which hosts our website and processes technical data in doing so (see section 3).
Our bookkeeper has no access to our mailbox. In addition, we may have to share data where the law obliges us to.
8. Cookies
Our website sets no cookies of its own. We use no analytics, no visitor statistics and no tracking pixels, and our fonts are on our own server, so nothing goes to another company for those either. That is why you will find no cookie banner on our site.
The only exception is the Google map. It is loaded from Google; see section 5.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data. One thing we will say plainly: ordinary email is not a secure channel. Your catering request leaves from your own email program and passes through your own email provider before it reaches us. We do not control that journey. So please do not send us data by email that you would rather not send that way, and report a serious allergy by telephone instead.
10. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to have the processing restricted, to object to the processing, and to receive your data in a portable form. Where processing rests on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
We keep no customer database, so in practice this concerns emails in our mailbox and our order notes. To exercise one of these rights, email info@tajine2go.be or call 09 310 93 31. We answer as soon as we can.
11. Making a complaint
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, please raise it with us first at info@tajine2go.be — that is usually the quickest fix. You always also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian supervisory authority:
Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit (Belgian Data Protection Authority)
Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels
12. Changes to this policy
If something changes about our website or about the way we handle data, we update this text. The date at the top shows when that last happened.
